King Britt and Richard Fearless are two artists from strikingly different sides of DJ culture’s stylistic map. Britt is a Philly head with a penchant for soulful variations on house, R&B, hip-hop and just about everything else under the sun. He’s one of America’s most internationally renowned DJs; his sets move in and out of sounds and styles easily, stressing the deep and the soulful. Fearless, on the other hand, is one of the two London heads behind Death in Vegas, with whom he’s produced more than a decade’s worth of acclaimed neo-psychedelic material. In one word, “Fearless” is a good way to describe the man’s behavior behind the decks. The recent Fabric mix Death In Vegas turned in would suggest a set heavy on tech-house and production-intensive electro but someone more familiar with Fearless’ history might remind us to expect the unexpected. Altogether, a topnotch night of varied selectors from across the map. (Jarrett Spiegel)
