To celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the MCA, the museum and the Intonation Festival are throwing a Sunday-afternoon free event that includes performances by The Eternals and Headache City, but also by local throwback outfit The 1900s, whose new record, “Cold & Kind,” gets released in a couple weeks; Poster Children, whose return is much welcomed; Califone, one of the most interesting and moving bands in the world, on record and in a live setting; and uber-popular DJ duo Flosstradamus, getting some help from the Cool Kids. The variance between each act alone should be enough to raise interest, but, if you haven’t noticed, every act here is worth seeing. Plus, it’s free, so there’s really no excuse to miss it. The Rock/Art concert happens October 7 at the Museum of Contemporary Art, 220 East Chicago, (312)280-2660, from 1pm-6pm.
