Classic. What more is there to say about Frankie Knuckles and Ralphi Rosario? Both were instrumental in breaking and championing the sound of house in its early days, pairing chunky, Afro-Latin rhythms with disco grooves and steady beats. From seminal tunes like “You Used to Hold Me” (Rosario) to droppin’ science at NYC’s Sound Factory, these two did it all. Today, house boasts a variety of sub-genres, but expect this duo to bring you back to the Warehouse as they attack the turntables. Expect some hot tunes from Knuckles, who releases a new mix CD next month on Nervous Records. (John Alex Colon)
