Trus’me is Prime Numbers label-owner David Wolstencroft, a Manchester, U.K. DJ, producer and remixer par excellence. His debut releases on Chicago’s own Still Music in 2006 earned him immediate international acclaim, and his career has simply skyrocketed ever since. His productions are inspired by a variety of sounds, including Chicago and Detroit varieties of house, 1970s soul, disco, jazz and funk. Much like Detroit’s Moodymann, Trus’me is skilled at mixing vintage samples with raw rhythms to create deep-house tunes that sound both classic and current. Expect his DJ set at Smart Bar to be eclectic, full of laidback disco-laced grooves, deep slow-burning house and smoky soul records. Joining Trus’me is Mister Joshua, onefiftyone, and Ross Kelly, who are all part of The Chicago Workgroup crew. The Trus’me appearance is the third in a series of Wednesday-night monthly events called “All Systems Go!” Past guests have featured Chicago’s Phillip Stone and DFA artist Holy Ghost! (Eleanor Rifkin)
