Known as the musical voice of all that was once Yugoslavia, one-time mega-rocker Goran Bregovic combines gypsy brass band music with Bulgarian counterpoint (sung by an all-male choir) all accompanied by a large ensemble of traditional string and percussion instruments as well as rock guitar. Bregovic is making his long overdue Chicago debut as part of the Department of Cultural Affairs free “Music Without Borders” World Music concert series, but will also make a Park West appearance in a more intimate show on July 11.
