Since the early nineties, Justin Long has aimed his sound somewhere left of the mainstream but squarely at the dancefloor. When house music was the soup du jour, Justin added techno to his mix, creating a new and raw sound. When techno was in style, he used acid loops to spice up the minimal parts. Over the last five years, Long has made himself a star, releasing tunes influenced by his dot_bleep events at Smart Bar on a slew of labels. House is back in fashion and once again we find Justin adding his signature tech-house style to every record he touches. When he mans the decks, flawless but emotional mixing stir up the best in mid-tempo house and minimal techno. Headlining at both Chicago’s SummerDance series and Smart Bar this week, Justin will roll out his respected house sound that has been a long time in the making. (John Alex Colón)
