Hot Chip’s meteoric rise to popularity is an impressive feat. It barely took them a year and a half to move from relative obscurity to being well-known staples of dance-rock’s recent surge in popularity. How? They have a penchant for writing some pretty hot shit, most of which scores hugely on the dancefloor. Their songs mix sweetness and melancholy with a pop sensibility that keeps them listenable for extended periods of time. It’s no surprise that the DFA/Astralwerks label that has seen massive success in recent years scooped them up. Along with new mixes from their label mates, their DJ set is sure to include the two fantastic dance singles “And I Was A Boy From School” and “Over And Over” from their newest release, “The Warning.” (Jarrett Spiegel)
