Mark Ernestus and Moritz Von Oswald are the duo that makes up Rhythm & Sound. Perhaps slightly more well-known under their Basic Channel guise, the two have been crafting their unique form of minimal, dub-influenced techno since roughly 1994. Along the way they have probably designed the template for digital dub music more than any other act. Their towering influence can be heard in the music of Richie Hawtin, Kit Clayton, and Luomo amongst many others. Though regularly name-checked as huge influences by your favorite artists, they remain under the radar after more than a decade of tireless innovation. But, like the consummate professionals that they are, they keep applying the pressure, pushing further down into the deepest depths of the dub. (Jarrett Spiegel)
