All summer long, the Chicago-based new music group Accessible Contemporary Music and Beijing composer Xiaogang Ye have collaborated on a new work, “Datura,” which has been prepared collaboratively in full public view. At this season opening concert of ACM, the full work will be given its world premiere as part of “Silk Road Chicago 2006” in a program called “Eastern Expressions: Sounds of Modern China” which features a concert of works that are mostly Midwest premieres by Chinese composers, including pieces by Chen Yi, Zhou Long, Huang Ruo and Jay Alan Yim with all but Ruo in attendance and featuring guest artists Duo Diorma and pipa virtuoso Min Xiao-Fen.
