Chino is a relatively new name on the U.S. drum ‘n’ bass circuit, but don’t let this detail fool you. In just a few years’ time, this energetic Miami DJ/producer has brashly carved his initials onto the leader board. Employing smooth, dancefloor-aimed funk in his sets, peppered with vocals and horn blasts, he’s drawn his share of comparisons to LTJ Bukem. However, Chino’s style exhibits tangents of anthemic and ragga jungle, and his style exploits his obvious Latin and disco influences resulting in a smile on every face in the crowd. From brass and bass to drums and keys, this guy’s got you covered. Expect a sweaty, Zwiecz-fueled mess at Lura this weekend. (John Alex Colón)
