Renowned producer and DJ Samuel L. Session hails from Gothenburg, Sweden, where he began releasing techno music around 1996. Like many of his Swedish contemporaries, Samuel caught the attention of legendary DJs and producers like Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin and Derrick May with his loopy, pounding, tribal techno productions. He co-founded the Cycle and SLS labels, releasing nearly a dozen records on each, and also put out some popular remixes for labels like Soma and Kanzleramt. Now moving his sound into more dark and minimal territory, the latest releases on his imprint Klap Klap have been setting dance floors on fire. Samuel, who hasn’t toured the United States for eight years, will perform an aggressive three-turntable techno set headlining the Dome room at Vision. Chicago’s AMP and promotional group/booking agency, Volatl, will co-host the event, which is sponsored by Resident Advisor. The Dome room now has a crisp reinforced sound system, so bring your earplugs. Volatl’s Mindbender, a true technician behind the turntables with superb taste in music, will perform alongside Genna “db” Greene, who has received international attention for her recent releases on Italobusiness and Zuvuya Recordings. Volatl’s multi-talented recording artist, Dave Powers, will execute live visuals as Cyborg K. Meanwhile, British Trance legend Sasha plays in Vision’s Sky Room. (Elly Rifkin)
