RECOMMENDED
The latest news from jazz impresario Joe Segal is that he has acquired a space in the landmark Dearborn Street Station on Polk Street between Dearborn and State, but that build-out funds are needed to be able to reopen the Jazz Showcase in early 2008. Enter legendary jazz pianist Ramsey Lewis and his award-winning trio to play a special benefit for that purpose for this one-night-only appearance that is being billed as Lewis’ only downtown engagement this year. Take note, cash and checks only, no credit cards, and advanced telephone reservations will only be held through 6:45pm. (Dennis Polkow) Sunday, October 21 at  Chicago Cultural Center, Michigan & Randolph, (312)266-4935. 7pm. $65.
