RECOMMENDED
Change has been buzzing in the air for local, live electro-house outfit formerly known as Sombionx. Aside from recently changing its name to FFM (Female Female Male), founding members Adam Nelson and Lindsay Frkovich enlisted in the classically trained musings of DJ/producer Michaela White to harden the edges of their already shiny allure. She works it out on live bass while Nelson mans the electronic drums. Frkovich’s pop-tart appeal on vocals continues to sass audiences with a kind of bubble-gum snap that hits harder than their four-to-the-floor. The result is a collection of dark party gems that translate well in both the studio and the live club setting. Current FFM digital releases on Nelson’s self-helmed Q Studios label tease with irreverent vocal musings and basslines thicker than any brand of black eyeliner. “I Like House Music” puts an up-front, cheeky spin on electro pop while Mastiksoul’s remix of the brooding “Time Bomb” enchants with Frkovich’s kinky allure. Glittering with snap, sparkle and pop, consider their act the ultimate cure for electro ennui. (Jen Danko)
