Frankie Knuckles is The Godfather of House Music. Spinning in underground Chicago clubs throughout the eighties, he helped develop the vocal-heavy, electronic gospel-disco sound that is House. He started a DJ residency at Chicago’s Warehouse club, which is said to be where the term “house music” was originally coined. Frankie has remixed tracks for artists like Michael Jackson and Chaka Khan and was awarded a Grammy Award for Remixer of the Year in 2005. Bear Who? grew up in Logan Square, listening to artists like Frankie Knuckles, Farley Jackmaster Funk and Fast Eddie. As a young adult, he began DJing with the tight Chicago crew that included Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, DJ Sneak and Bad Boy Bill. His fusion of hip-hop and house music is flawlessly danceable. If you love house music, soul, funk and disco, then don’t miss this chance to be rocked by these influential Chicago performers. (Hilary Rawk)
