This is an event for those that remember the “Jungle Book” as more than a Richard Kipling book or Disney movie, but a seminal collection of mix tapes by some of Chicago’s top drum ‘n’ bass selectors. Two of the headliners of the event, Phantom 45 and Dr. Groo, contributed tapes to the classic six-tape set, released in 1996. DJ Zebo, promoting and performing at the event, says it will focus strictly on tunes from that time, during the so-called “golden-era of jungle.” “The jungle sound of yesterday is quite different than that of today and we just wanted to do a party to pay tribute to the classic style,” Zebo says. The flyer for the party was designed by hardcore mainstay Phil Free Art, who is also on the bill. Look out for rave-scene casualties and get ready to shout, “Rewind.” (Michael Hirtzer)
