For over the last decade, Londoner Asad Rizvi has been cranking out a steady flow of bumpin’ cuts and remixes, both as a solo artist and in partnership with the likes of Nathan Coles and Ashley Casselle (to name a few). Tonight, Rizvi drops in on Chicago, where his global take on techy, funky house will find a receptive audience, regardless of what side of the aural spectrum is preferred. And as for global, you can’t get much more global than being featured in mixes from nineties Global Underground titans like Anthony Pappa and Nick Warren. More recently, Rizvi has been appointed OM Record’s London resident, and his re-teaming with Casselle has yielded a sublime trip-quirky bounce in “Muffin Bazooka” and “Wafflehostage.” Adding to Rizvi’s far-reaching sounds will be strong local deck support in Shifty Johnson, twodeep and one of our favorite hometown jocks, the ever-versatile Striz—whose Illmeasures crew will be fortifying the Victor Hotel’s sound system for proper globetrotting boom.
