Chicago’s constantly evolving and often-unpredictable nightlife circuit has seen hundreds of venues change hands over the years, with clubs opening and closing nearly every few months. Smart Bar, however, remains the crowning jewel of the city’s club scene, and arguably one of the most important venues to the electronic-music community to date. Celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary, the club fittingly chose a hometown superstar to commemorate the historic occasion, with Green Velvet (aka Curtis Jones) performing live. The celebrated producer and DJ will take time out of his busy world tour to fill Smart Bar with his infectious, nasty, funk-driven techno and house featuring his signature live vocals. His mischievous live sets are consistently fun, twisted and full of energy, so expect a packed dance floor. The night will also feature DJ sets from Gramaphone Records techno buyer Josh Werner and Madison’s Nick Nice, whose impressive music collections and skills behind the decks have made them Smart Bar favorites for many years.
