Now in its fifth year at Moonshine, the weekly Wednesday night party Mamby is back, which means spring has officially sprung. Mamby remains one of the few long-running weeknight parties that have solidified its reputation by showcasing the city’s best local DJs in a laid-back atmosphere. Tonight’s edition of Mamby will feature sets from four DJs who have been on top of their game in recent months. Kate Simko, who has recently released tracks on Spectral Sound, will headline. Expect a set full of stripped-down house grooves and minimal techno with a sexy, jazzy edge. Also playing is Chicago favorite John Patterson, whose techno sets run the gamut of styles ranging from minimal to pounding, flawlessly mixed on three turntables. Mamby regular Phillip Stone (aka E-nots) has been on a tear of flawless performances lately, so expect his signature smooth blend of tribal-laden deep-house tracks mixed with snappy, minimal techno. Mamby regular Funk Shui, who has been hard at work on music production, also plays, and will contribute a multi-genre set of party-rocking house, techno and electro. (Elly Rifkin)
