There are some hip-hop junkies who don’t get down to dance music, and there are just as many house heads who won’t give rap a chance. Pase Rock couldn’t care less about the narrow-minded among either camp—the multi-talented DJ/MC/producer spins, spits and, well, produces hip-hop that’s chock full of club-friendly, electro-fied beats, which are also highly danceable. This irreverent approach is clear in Pase Rock’s productions, with songs that bleed sarcasm (“The Motherfucking Rave is Over”) or are downright hilarious (“Lindsay Lohan’s Revenge”). The latter track is a club-banger Pase Rock recorded with the like-minded Spank Rock and the blowin’-up-for-a-minute-now Santogold, and it starts with the lyric, “Why you showin’ them coochie lips, gettin’ up out your car?” With a new single dropping soon on hip indie label Dim Mak Records and a long-awaited second LP in the works, Pase Rock is about to build more bridges in the musical landscape, proving that music is hotter than ever these days.
