Review: The Rx Bandits

  The Rx Bandits are beyond veterans of punk rock; I probably don’t even have to explain it any further. Going strong for more than a decade now, the band has already conquered Warped Tour and Bonnaroo, and are now storming into Chicago on their own headlining tour. Its most recent record, 2006’s “…And the Battle Begun,” throws so much talent, musicianship and intelligence in your face, the RX Bandits can no longer be ignored as crazy punk rock kids. Instead its music should be hailed as genius, and the Bandits’ classic crude jams and ska twists certainly produce a spectacular time for all those involved. The band brings with it Chicago-based Maps & Atlases—the two have toured together before. Unfortunately, Maps & Atlases live show does not pay back the loyalty, being severely lacking in organization and focus. Show up slightly late for the driving rock and slam dancing that will leave you tired and sore for days. (Emily Kaiser)
