This long-running music showcase boasts an annual lineup of disparate rock and electronic sounds, fusing offerings of keyboard-based sonic mayhem with emo crooning and metal varieties. This year’s event is a timewarp back to the 1970s, featuring a welcome-back of sorts for LA outfit Ya Ho Wha 13, known for numerous releases in tribal psychedelia. Chicago metal group Ga’an, currently tearing up rooms around the city, adds balance with its droning, haunting style. Minnesota’s Daughters of the Sun, like a less-whimsical Cure, will make an appearance, offering their take on keyboard-infused psychedelic rock. The Singleman Affair and Great Society Mind Destroyers blend vocal harmonies and sparse guitar work to deliver well-honed folk rock bliss, and the sidestage will feature the noisecore efforts of Plastic Boner Band. Witness an incredibly diverse lineup for far less than you’d expect. (John Alex Colon)
