The veteran trio from Indianapolis is on tour with its newest album with deceptively simple songs reminiscent of the Pixies. “Tea Tornado” sounds like messy talk-pop recorded in a grungy urban basement, boasting catchy and sometimes humorous lyrics. The band released its first record more than a decade ago with Secretly Canadian. Five albums later, the group has found a new home with Indianapolis-native Joyful Noise Recordings. In its latest release songs range from sparse monotone odes about handlebars to borderline psychedelic grunge with shouting, out-of-sync choral commands to dance. “Let’s go down to the disco to see you dance with me. He’s been napping while the curtains are drawn.” (Caroline Picard)
