Lincoln Hall (2424 N. Lincoln), from the owners of Schubas, opens its doors tonight with a performance by Mike Doughty, but the “official” opening is slated for October 25 with Ted Leo & The Pharmacists. (Tickets on sale Friday at noon.) This place is shaping together a pretty impressive calendar already, with upcoming shows with David Bazan, Say Hi, Ben Gibbard, Great Lake Swimmers, Numero’s Eccentric Soul Revue, The Walkmen and Art Brut. Anyone’s guess as to how the new venue will take away from current Chicago churches of rock—including Schubas itself—but count me in as one who’s anxious to see how this plays out. (Tom Lynch)
