Bouncy bass lines, pitched down to a disco-friendly tempo, and just a touch of sun-kissed bliss… that is the sound that flies high for Aeroplane. Riding on the strong current of anachronistic nu-disco love, Stephen Fasano and Vito de Luca, the two Belgian DJ/producers behind Aeroplane, have blown up huge, with dates set at mega clubs like London’s Fabric, or festival gigs like Coachella and Bisco Inferno at Red Rocks. It can be argued that Aeroplane is most adept at applying their distinctive touches to remixes, with strong efforts resulting from retreads of Sebastien Tellier, Au Revoir Simone, Cut Copy and Friendly Fires. Tonight marks their first-ever appearance in Chicago, with strong deck support coming from rising local talent Kid Color, and Smart Bar’s resident DJ collective Orchard Lounge. Now boarding: the perfect, smile-inducing midweek distraction… (Duke Shin)
