Legendary nightclub Crobar, which brought Chicago into the national nightlife spotlight with outposts in New York, Miami and elsewhere, is calling it quits, according to an announcement. After Smart Bar, Crobar was one of Chicago’s longest-running dance clubs, and given its penchant for the big DJ-big spectacle-big dance floor, which has given way with subsequent venues to the tacky allure of faux exclusivity and bottle service, it will be missed. Here is their announcement:
Dear Friends,
Big Chicago, Inc, the company that has operated the nightclub at 1543 N Kingsbury in Chicago, for over 18 years has decided to terminate the use of the “CROBAR” brand and take the venue into a different direction.
Marking the end of an era Big Chicago, Inc will host two very special parties.
This coming Saturday Night April 10th, Chicago Legend Dennis Rodman will host the first of the two parties. So many of you know Dennis as a Chicago Bull and NBA Champion but, he holds a special place in our hearts and minds, as the man who defined the nightclub in so many ways while making it the place to be.
Next Saturday April 17th will be the “Last Dance” as we close the doors on a Chicago Icon for the last time. Special surprise guests from the past will be returning for one “Last Dance” along the best staff in the world. This event is for all our customers and friends who have been loyal and supported us over the years.
We look forward to seeing you and hope you will take this opportunity to visit us.
Thank you and we’re going to miss you!!
