Champaign native singer/songwriter Jesse W. Johnson releases his new album, “Home to Roast,” this week. Not a stranger to the stage, Johnson fronts rock outfit Jet W. Lee. His solo album builds off of their mixture of modern and classic rock while providing a more direct outlet for Johnson’s songwriting. The album presents a down-home feel, melding more folk and mellow rock to Johnson’s previous project. With a backing band at his side, Johnson will surely deliver a set that will make toes tap while allowing you to sit back on your bar stool and sip some whiskey.
Johnson has an all-around ethic towards his craft which doesn’t end once the performance is over. As an appreciation, Johnson intends to hand out complimentary copies of his new album at this release show. In this day and age when music is pushing toward online sales and bands are aiming for instant stardom, it is refreshing to see an artist who is putting out music simply because they have a passion for it.
